The grinder is made of medical grade anodized aluminum and made in the USA. The grinder has a unique tooth design which enables it to shred perfectly and with ease. And, for older folks with arthritic hands, this device is miles above most competitors.
Since the aluminum used in the product is anodized, there should be no concerns regarding pieces of the aluminum chipping off over time because the aluminum used is anodized. The process of anodization creates protective layers of material to ensure that the material is resistant to any abrasives or other factors. This is done through an electrochemical treatment process that enhances the surface of the aluminum resulting in a natural oxide layer on the surface.
The Santa Cruz Shredder is extraordinarily designed. The 4-piece grinder has 3 separate chambers. The top chamber allows the larger pieces of herb to remain in the top part while the smaller pieces drop to the next level. The bottom chamber collects the smallest fine (and potent) herb pollen to be segregated and saved for future use. The lid connects via a very powerful magnet while the lower chambers are connected by threading.
The Santa Cruz Shredder comes in a variety of colors and sizes (small, medium and large) as well as in either a 2-piece version, 3-piece version or 4-piece version. They range in price from as low as $28.50 for the small 2 piece version to $89.95 for the large 4-piece unit. We tested the ‘medium’ 4-piece unit in black. The quality will be the same with any configuration. You can’t go wrong with any of the Santa Cruz Shredder products.
