Why Uncle Bud’s Products Are NOT Recommended
The suggestion that ‘hemp seed oil’ lotions, creams or roll-ons or even ‘topicals’ with actual CBD can benefit people with serious conditions such as arthritis is ridiculous in our view and is a shameful way to sell products. Case in point is Uncle Bud’s.
Uncle Bud’s offers over 50 products. Some of these products are called ‘hemp seed oil’ products and some are called ‘CBD’ products. The products range from lotions, creams and gels that are sometimes marketed as pain relievers to CBD foot creams to hemp dog shampoos to ‘personal lubricants’ to hemp anti-wrinkle cream and so on. These type offerings, in our view, are examples of much that is wrong with the CBD and hemp products market and how these products are marketed.
Evidence supporting any potential benefits from ‘ingestible’ CBD or is minimal but research continues. However, any potential benefit from ‘topical’ CBD or topical hemp seed oil (which contains NO CBD) is largely non-existent in the case of CBD and absurd in the case of hemp seed oil products. The idea that your dog might benefit from a CBD dog shampoo is equally absurd. Same for CBD ‘personal lubes’ and so on…

False or misleading claims about CBD or hemp seed oil hurts the industry.
Companies and entrepreneurs have been jumping on the hemp and CBD bandwagon in a big way hoping to cash in on this lucrative market. Prior to the 2018 Farm Bill the market was largely made up of ‘ingestible’ CBD products offered by a handful of companies such as Charlotte’s Web CBD or Bluebird Botanicals or CBDPure, and others.
Throughout 2019 the proliferation of CBD product offerings expanded rapidly in an attempt to get a piece of this hot new market niche. Many of these newer CBD products offered ‘ingestible’ CBD in combination with other ingredients, in an attempt to differentiate themselves from the trailblazing companies, which in the early days of CBD essentially offered the cannabinoid CBD in a carrier oil to be used by dripping a few drops of the substance under the tongue. Then came CBD in capsule form. Then came ‘vape products. And then, after the 2018 Farm Bill, many companies entering the market did so very cautiously by avoiding ingestible CBD because of the murky laws and controversy surrounding the substance. Hence the market saw (and continues to see) the proliferation of topical CBD creams and lotions.

The advertising claims that topical hemp seed oil, or topical CBD helps reduce pain or inflammation is misleading and inappropriate. People who suffer with arthritis, for instance, should be cringing when reading these silly claims.
