Listen Below As Ronald Reagans Campaigns Against Medicare
The Republicans have been demographically doomed for decades and in order to have a chance for remaining viable as a political party was to pander groups like gun nuts and the religious right. This partly took the form of a strong anti-choice position in response to the Supreme Court’s Roe vs. Wade decision in the early 1970’s. Ronald Reagan recognized this and in his presidential campaign in 1980 he brought the religious right into the Republican tent and legitimized their minority views and made it a republican litmus test. It helped expand his base and helped him win in 1980. And, Republicans candidates since have been mostly steadfast in their anti-choice (or so-called ‘pro-life’) position ever since. And, it helped bring us to where we are today.
Make no mistake about where the Republicans stand on issues.
Republicans want…
Abortions to be illegal in every state.
Marijuana to be illegal.
Guns to be freely available.
Eliminate Medicare
Eliminate Social Security
Make no mistake about that.
Republicans definitely want to eliminate Medicare and Social Security.
They say they want to privatize these critical and popular programs, but their real aim is to get rid of them. They have a long track record of opposing these programs starting when they were first proposed and after they were enacted. (All this to be discussed in a later post.)
Make no mistake about what you are voting for… when you vote Republican.
